As a way to show appreciation to my paid subscribers, I am going to share an exclusive recording from my personal collection. Here is a clip from a performance of Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo from July 1990 at the Quasimodo Club in Berlin, Germany. Hermeto is playing the DX7 synth, Carlos Malta on flute and saxophones, I am on piano, Itiberê Zwarg is on bass, Marcio Bahia on drums, Fabio Pascoal and Pernambuco on percussion. This clip shows how tight our band was, reflecting all the hours spent in rehearsal and performance. Hermeto’s improvisations are a tour de force in energy and creativity.
Below is the 14-minute clip, including the German radio announcer introduction and two Hermeto compositions that were never recorded: Jackson do Pandeiro, a coco, and Pega a Polca e Taca o O Parafuso, a polka.
This recording is for my paid subscribers. Please consider upgrading your subscription to have access to this and many more exclusive posts.
