Hello friends,
Greetings from Tallinn, Estonia! It’s very cold here, but the warmth I received from my first concert in this country last night in Pärnu in a duo with bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann was amazing. The audience really enjoyed our repertoire of compositions by Tom Jobim, Pixinguinha, Radamés Gnattali and a couple of my originals. It felt very good to arrange and play music that does not fit in the usual stereotypes of jazz, classical or Brazilian, yet it clearly communicated with the audience beyond words or labels.
We’ll continue tonight at the main concert hall here in Tallinn. I’ll post pictures when I have them.
Also, most of you probably listen to music available on the usual online platforms. You might enjoy it, but it is a sad reality that none of them compensate the music creators for their creative work. You pay for the streaming service, but none of this comes to the musicians.
There is an alternative, if you really would like to support the work we do as creators. Bandcamp is one of the last remaining places where you can purchase high definition audio files knowing that Most of the funds will be directed to the artists. On my Bandcamp site you will find music that is not available anywhere else, such as my electronic music creations, solo piano renditions of Hermeto Pascoal’s music, tracks with my award-winning Quinteto and much more. Head down there. Tomorrow, April 5 is Bandcamp Friday, where 100% of the income will go to the artists. Spend some time browsing and if you feel inspired by the music, download it for your enjoyment and share it with your friends. Of course, the gifts of your purchases will go right back into producing more music for you.
Thanks for your support, and let music guide you!
Obrigado,
Jovino
