One of the great joys of making music together is to gather a bunch of talented musicians and inspire them to sound like one giant organism. As much as I enjoy playing solo or with my ensembles, there is an energy that is created when 20 people get together and the groove takes over. Here I am conducting the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra playing the music of Hermeto Pascoal in New York in December 2022. These young players have that energy, and it was a joy to lead them:
Choro Árabe: 00:00 Bebê: 04:00 Jegue: 13:20
All compositions and arrangements by Hermeto, except Bebê, which I arranged.
Enjoy!
