Hello folks,
I am impressed with the number of new subscribers to my Substack. I appreciate your support for my work, and I hope that this publication is satisfying to all of you. I intend to keep adding more features as we go along.
Next week I will be teaching at the amazing Jazz Camp West in the California redwoods. One week away from all electronic devices, enjoying the dozens of pianos scattered around the forest and sharing music with a tribe of about 300 people of all backgrounds and ages. Here’s a little sample:
This promises to be a very musical summer for me. In July I will spend another week as part of the faculty at Blaine Harbor Music Festival, located right at the US-Canada border in Washington State. I have been teaching there for several years, and it’s always a great experience.
Also in July, I will play with my Trio featuring Marcio Bahia on drums and João Rafael Souza on bass at the prestigious Blue Note club in Rio de Janeiro. If you find yourself down there on July 19, here’s the flyer:
Finally, here’s a video of my gig at Moods Jazz Club in Zürich, Switzerland last March. I am joined by Dudu Penz on bass, Pius Baschnagel on drums and special guest Rodrigo Botter Maio on soprano sax. We are playing my tune Pontapé:
I will keep posting new music whenever possible, including new installments of 99 Hermeto Pascoal Stories. Thanks again for your support!
Obrigado,
Jovino
Yeah keep the Hermeto stories coming; I for one promise not to unsubscribe when you finish all 99! :o)
