Happy Valentine's Day

with a little music

Hello friends,

Growing up in Brazil, there was never a celebration of Valentine’s Day. Our big day for celebration of love is June 12, the eve of St. Anthony’s Day. Still, as Stevie Wonder says, “Love’s in Need of Love Today”, so here is a version of My Funny Valentine by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart I recorded back in 2007 for my solo piano album that was released by Adventure Music as part of their Piano Masters Series. Enjoy:

This tune reminds me of my dear friend and mentor, vocalist Jay Clayton, who left us recently. Back in 1994, my first gig in the US was accompanying her on this same date. I dedicate this to her.
