On May 1 we said goodbye to one of the most unique voices in Brazilian music - Nana Caymmi, the daughter of the great composer Dorival Caymmi and sister of Dori and Danilo Caymmi. Her unmistakable voice will always be remembered.
Here’s one of my favorite recordings of Nana, singing Canção Que Morre No Ar, by Carlos Lyra and Ronaldo Bôscoli, accompanied by the great guitarist Hélio Delmiro:
The delicate nuances of Nana’s voice will always be part of the music of Brazil.
Descanse em Paz, Nana!

Lovely.
