Most folks nowadays do not own or listen to CDs. If you have a new car, it probably does not have a CD player in it. Streaming seems to be what everybody does today. Still, the compact disc remains one of the only high quality physical supports for music. Vinyl records are great as well. Both CDs and vinyl require the listener to dedicate some attention to the act of hearing music with focus, instead of having an aural wallpaper running in the background of her life.
As the holiday season sets in, I’d like to remind my subscribers that you can purchase my CDs on my website. Most of them are in stock, and I will sign each one of them and ship them anywhere in the US (or abroad, for a small additional fee).
It’s interesting to note that the purchase of one CD is the equivalent of about 5,000 streams on a site like Spotify in terms of benefits to the artist who created the music.
Each one of these represents a snapshot of my life’s work, done with lots of care and attention to sound. Each one is the fruit of months of collective labor, technical skills and design choices made to enhance the experience of listening to creative music.
Starting today, I will feature each one of my CD releases as a leader and include a link to where you can purchase them on my website:
Caboclo ( Liquid City Records, 1997) - This is the Jovino Santos Neto Quarteto’s debut recording, featuring Jovino (piano, keyboards, accordion, organ and flute), Hans Teuber (woodwinds), Chuck Deardorf (basses) and Mark Ivester (drums), plus special guest Airto Moreira on percussion. The music was written and arranged by Jovino, with one composition by his mentor Hermeto Pascoal. The album was recorded at Sage Arts Studios in Granite Falls, WA by Daniel Protheroe and it was mastered by Bob Katz.
Purchase Caboclo for $20 (autograph, shipping and handling included)
