Back in November of last year, I was in my hometown of Rio de Janeiro for a family visit. However, I also had the opportunity to perform at a house concert in a trio with two of my favorite musicians: Marcio Bahia, the amazing drummer who was my brother of sound for most of my 15 years in the Hermeto Pascoal Grupo, and the young and brilliant João Rafael Souza on bass, who is equally at home with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and with grooving deeply in an improvised setting. Here we are playing my composition Tambô d’Oshó, a batuque I composed in honor of Oxóssi, the orixá who protects the forests and their inhabitants. I hope you enjoy our groove!
