Hello folks,
I know that many of you enjoy listening to and playing samba, which is really the music that Brazil is mostly known for. However, I feel that most people do not really get the multiple perspectives of samba - how it developed from plantation circle dances, how it grew in the urban spaces, how it interacted and influenced musical, political, social and technical developments in Brazil over the course of the 20th century. Whatever perspective you choose to focus on, it is always a fascinating story, especially if you can listen to the music as it changes through the decades.
It's a unique story, and I'd like to share it with you in my upcoming online class, The Mystery of Samba. It will take place on Zoom on two Tuesdays, October 22 and 29 from 6:30 to 8:30PM. If you sign up and cannot take part in the live sessions, you will have access to the video, audio and chat recordings.
Sign up for it here: https://www.jovisan.net/the-mystery-of-samba.html
As you know, my online classes are designed for musicians and music lovers alike. We will engage in deep conversations and expand our knowledge of one of the coolest grooves in the world.
I hope you will join me for another musical adventure.
Thanks for your support!
Obrigado,
Jovino
