Curious, isn't it. I imagine it's pretty common for those who've spent many years working through the repertoire. For example, I noticed that in your recording of "Donkey Xote" the bass player references the first couple of bars of Ary Barroso’s "Na Baixa do Sapateiro" at around 2:42. Nilson Matta does the same on a video of Kenny Barron's "Canta Brasil" at Jazzfestival Bern 2003, though I can't recall at what point. Music is ever intriguing.
